The ViewLondon Review
A party-hard venue with great tunes and a fantastic dancefloor, Trap is a point of call for all groups of urban music lovers who want a club where they can dance all night. The VenueYou can’t miss Trap due to the enormous queue outside, and when you eventually make it inside you’ll find it’s made up of a smaller ground floor and a sprawling upstairs - both of which appeal for different reasons. You first enter on the ground floor, which has a small dancefloor and enclosed booths, better suited for a more intimate outing. The party starts once you’re upstairs, where the banging music gets everyone moving and there is more than enough room to dance. The club’s modern theme is mirrored on both floors with whites and block colours - the only letdown being the toilets, which could really do with a makeover.
The AtmosphereThe guests are friendly and everyone has the same agenda – to have a great night out. Trap is a club where people let loose and enjoy themselves with drinks and dancing and proves to be an exception from the pretentious vibes of most celebrity hangouts. Trap attracts mostly large, single-sex groups and the packed out dancefloor means that there’s a lot of heated dancing happening, but the size of the venue means that any unwanted attention can be easily lost. The ground floor is darker and has a more romantic ambience and so is more popular with couples. The staff do their best to ruin the friendly vibes, as the doormen are overly aggressive and the bar tenders distracted.
The MusicThe main aim here is to get everyone dancing until the doors close and the soundtrack of RnB, hip hop and classic party anthems defiantly does the job. The DJs play some old favourites mixed in with fresh tunes, and therefore appeal to all urban fans. The songs do seem to be on a loop, however, with the favourites being played every hour and towards the end of the night downstairs plays mainly slow jams for anyone wanting a more relaxing finish.
The DrinkThe prices are slightly higher than most London clubs but the guests don’t seem to mind, despite the equally overpriced entry fee. There is a wide variety of spirits to choose from and an impressive cocktail list, although beer drinkers may feel somewhat hard-done-by by the lack of options. The bar gets very busy and there is always a wait to get served.
The Last WordTrap achieves what it sets out to do by filling its dancefloors with people who appreciate the music and the atmosphere. It attracts a stylish but unassuming crowd who are there to enjoy themselves and is without a doubt a central for large groups of party goers.
