I live in the lewisham area I have found this bar to be a great source off entertainment.

The staff are friendly the crowd mixed and the atmosphere a laugh. The bar does not seem to take its self seriously but that helps in the laid back feeling.

The music is camp but fun and the drink is well priced(after you get a free membership card but thats done on the spot and its free)

I would honestly say give it go

I moved to the area a few months ago with my partner we started going to 286 as it's now known and we very quickly made it our local. The atmosphere is relaxed and fellas safe. We found we could play pool or just relax with the papers. Friday nights are the best - great music and a very mixed crowd. Sometimes even including the firemen from across the street.(yum yum).

Stonewalls is one of the worst venues on the gay scene in London. The location is poor, on a really dodgy street, and it is a long way back to central London on a bus or very costly in a cab. The drinks are very expensive and the atmosphere is very local and aggressive. The music is good, however this does not make a good venue.



Do yourself a favour and do not waste your well earned cash going to this place as it is a total waste of time. If you are local I feel sorry for you having a local like Stonewalls.

I think that Stonewalls tries too hard. I appreciate that it's nice for gay and straight people to feel comfortable out drinking together, but I still think that most gay guys are put off by the frightened heteros or the fag hags that frequent there.


Don't get me wrong, Stonewalls Bar is a great place, but I'm just not too keen on all of the clientelle.

Stonewalls Bar & Club is a fantastic venue. Never knew there was anything like this in Lewisham. Went there couple weeks ago with friends. We all really enjoyed ourselves. The music was great, the DJ really knew how to work the crowd.



Never knew there was so much talent in Lewisham. Plus the staff at Stonewalls Bar are really nice and friendly, a few cuties there too! Definitely recommend this bar/club. Cheap, busy, good music. Everything you need to have a good night. We did!

Although I am not gay, I found this venue to be one of the best I have visited. The atmosphere is terrific, the staff friendly and the music great. I would recommend this club to anyone. It just can't be faulted.
