I went to Vertigo last night with my friend i am visiting for the weekend, as soon as we got to leicester square we were pounced on and offered £12 tickets instead of paying £15 on the door, so we bought these and made our way to the club. On the way we met a few more promoters that were offering cheaper tickets! We started to queue up and spoke to a group of guys that asked to come in with us as the doormen wont let groups of men into the club together! There were 7 of them, mostly black and they didn't get in at the door with us as the doormen had seen them asking us!! Why only let men in with women? If the guys were with women or not the ratio of men to women would still be the same.
We finally got in and made it up to the 7th floor in the cool lift, went to the bar and asked for two vodkas with mixers. We were then charged £17, when we said that sounded far too expensive, the barman with attitude told us well their doubles, we said we didn't ask for doubles and he then said 'we only sell doubles', what kind of club does that!! We were not happy. Alot of the male customers were a bit over the top in their pulling techniques, if you are out on the pull then definitely go to this club cos its easy to get a guy! Meat market comes to mind!
The best thing about this place is the view, with not living in London it was great to see a view across the city like that. And also the music was mostly pretty good.
We found two barstaff on the 8th floor who were great and the lady in the toilets on this floor was really friendly too. I think thats now 4 good points against a multitude of bad ones!
If you want to spend £12 entry and £17 on two vodka's and Cokes to see one of the best views across London then this might be the place for you. However the majority of the bar staff (with the exception of two) were rude with attitude problems.
It was interesting to watch the male sleazes watching the young girls who were taking their duty of finding the richest man with the biggest diamonds very seriously.
The music was quite good but songs were repeated through the night. The atmosphere was lacking. And the security staff were next to useless when an aggressive man was shouting abuse at me after I said no thanks to his advances, thankfully my friend and another couple were there to help otherwise it would have been very frightening.
Definately never going back and I doubt any of my friends will.
yes vertigo were one of the worst managed clubs i have ever been too and ive been to quite a few. The promotors were fighting amongst each other over who gets to take a customer in and claim the credit. Another issue was how they were literally bombarding possible customers every two seconds within leicester square, there is such a thing as too much publicity and thats exactly what they were doing. a glass of white was £7.50! its generally expected for clubs drinks to be more expensive but this club takes the cake. The man working in the coat section was unneccesarily rude In addition to this be sure never to bring along more than one clothing item ,be sure to leave your scarves and gloves home in freezing cold weather because a bill of 10 quid to leave it in the storage room isnt the nicest start to your night leaving u too penniless to get drunk . oh and lets not forget the large posters of "do not spike drinks". id like to see you let someone buy u a drink after that good read. all in all vertigo is a place to go to maybe meet a few people and to never return to or if you dont fancy spending uncessary money for a mediocre night with unresponsive staff then a cup of tea and a sandwich in front the telly ought to give u more satisfaction.
I went to Vertigo on Saturday night, what an amazing club, the views of London are so cool. The place was rocking and the Dj's on all three floors were great, we even got into the VIP which made our night.
I can't wait to get back there next week, especaily because the bar staff are really cute.
I went to Vertigo on the 25/6/08. The management in this establishment is the worst that I have ever seen, they are unprofessional. I was in the VIP area when a manager stormed in and split my drink all over my dress, I was not sure if he was aware so I went to go and tell him, instead of getting an apology he was very rude, intimidating and abusive towards me. I was shocked at his behaviour as he was a manger speaking to a customer, I felt scared and vulnerable as he was shouting at me with his hands raised. When I phoned up to complain about him the following day, the staff member I spoke to assured me that the matter will be dealt with adequately, but I am still awaiting an outcome. I personally think it is horrendous that a manager can treat customers in this way and get away with it.
great view - BUT the worst management in the whole world. They promissed things they did do afterwards, double booked the 8th floor (VIP lounge). They can ruin your party and they will. COMMENT from the staff: "you are a customer, you aren't paying my salary so.. shut up"
I went to Vertigo (formally known as Penthouse, View Lounge etc) on Sat 07/06/08. Things seemed a little unnecessarily hectic at the door with many a promoter hanging around. Saying this, me and friends (6 girls 2 boys) haggled with a promoter to get girls in for £5 and boys for £10, it had just gone 11pm! The famous glass elevator is nothing to be excited about, it was £2 for the cloakroom and drinks were too expensive to get drunk (5 alcoholic shots and 3 coca cola shots were +£40!!), but the view is amazing and the music is even better, was on my feet the whole night! 7th floor is a few tunes behind 6th floor and a little less crowded, which worked well for us towards the end of the night. Would be 5 stars if the drinks weren't so overpriced. Overall, a great night out :)
