I rented the wessex rooms lots of times in the mid to late 80s for private Northern soul all dayers (the function at the junction"and aside from a decibel limiter That used to trip out my equipment thought it was an Amazing venue.

From the outside "it was,nt all That" but once inside was just What was Wanted, Comfort for those not Hitting the Dance floor,

but a Dance to floor die for for those serious Northern souliesive been to in my time to some Amazing places as a Punter and as a Promotor and when it comes down to a top 10 of venues ive been to the wessex rooms for being one of those Small intimate club feels,

will always Remain in my personal top ten at around 5 or 6 and shoul I ever come back to london in search of a venue the wessex would be top of my list

I went to Wessex House the other night and I saw that famous old singer/adult movie star Chris Micklex at the bar. He refused to buy me a drink (tight old bugger) but the music was good! The DJs at Wessex House played Tenacious D and we spent the entire night sliding up and down the dance floor on our knees shouting 'you rule man' to the Baywatch theme tune! Those were the days.

Went to the Wessex with a couple of friends who said it was great. Read some reviews on the place on other websites that weren't exactly flattering!

So I went along anyway expecting it to be a bit of dive. Thankfully I was wrong. The queue was not long, waited about 5 mins, then went in. Had a bit of banter with the security and the staff which was good. They do search you and the womens' handbags but that's to be expected. There is no dress code and I was in trainers, t-shirt and jeans.

There were a variety of people of all ages. Some were dressed in what looked like Ascot dress and others were casual, and some in suits.

The general atmosphere was good and people were attitude free and up for a good night. They had a 2-4-1 offer on at the time on some bottles which was a bonus.

Music was good with a mix of Urban, Pop, R&B, 70's, 80's, 90's and we just danced the night away. The DJ was good and in good spirits as well as all the staff.

Would recommend it to anyone and will be going back. The cost was £8 but we had fliers (being handed out by a guy round the corner) and so got in for £7. It opened at 10:30 I think. Near Clapham Junction so nice and easy to get to.

All in all a very nice place with a good atmosphere.
