Imagine a wind tunnel that could be used for testing the aerodynamics of an F1 racing car, turn it upright, step into the airflow and you have a body flight experience! It's a proven concept operating in several countries to the benefit of the skydiving community and anyone else who wishes to taste the thrill of 2 miles of freefall in a completely safe environment.

The idea of a body flight experience, where we bring the airflow to you, was first tried by the American Military in 1964. In 1982 A couple of vertical wind tunnels opened in Tennessee and Las Vegas and the first SkyVenture tunnel opened in Orlando, Florida in 1998. It has been operating there ever since with fantastic success and reliability. Airkix is the seventh tunnel to be manufactured by SkyVenture and the first in Europe.

What made body flying so important to the skydiving community was when a team of tunnel instructors from SkyVenture Orlando took up skydiving and with very, very few jumps won their category. Since then just about every competitive team has used a tunnel and now two American Drop Zones already have their own permanent wind tunnel.

Since opening in November 2006 Airkix have flown over 50,000 people, including many celebrities such as Frank Bruno, Jo Wiley, Bradley Walsh, Frankie Dettori and the cast of Hollyoaks. Airkix have had TV coverage on Sky 1 Mission Implausible, Blue Peter, various news channels and The Apprentice and have appeared in Loaded, FHM and Boys Toys magazines.

Airkix is not just a place for the public to so a body flight experience. Body flying has become a serious sport. Professional flyers at Airkix have taken part in a sponsored free fly competition and took gold in the Danish Nationals. Their sponsored 4 way formation team also took gold in the National and World Championships. Airkix have also completed a Guiness World Record attempt for the longest airtime for body flying.
