An adorable film that Sandler fans, with or without children, should not miss. The story line is basic but appealing: Single guy with unrealised dreams and unactualized talent gets a shot and wins, albeit with an unexpected happy ending. The underlying theme is centered around the importance of the presence of a father figure and extended family in divorced families which is why the storyline does not focus much on coxes character- indeed the overall point may have been better served if cox didn't appear at all. This movie is cute but felt at times that the editors shortened it a bit too much. Sandlers character should have been forced to endure more unexpected story outcomes before trying to work the system. Russell Brand was completely brillant as Sandlers Wacky but fun and funny friend- I expect to see him in many more sandler films as the two have a natural charisma together. All in all remember this film is targeted towards very young children age 6 and under maybe for Brits and up to age 8 for USA older kidds

Hard to like Adam Sandler as the working class hero, a bit too Homer Simpson for my liking. The special effects are nice though and the kids loved the pet with the google eyes. We did laugh out loud quite a few times.

What really offended me though as a single parent was the way that the hero and his new girlfriend were portrayed as parent figures to the two children at the end of the film and their mother just seemed excluded and sad. Maybe this is because the Americans are actually more conventional than the British.

Anyway a cute but forgettable little film, see it only if you have kids with you its for them

I wanted to see it with my BF but people have put me off big time! I am actually really against it. It's more like a family movie than something you see with friends, especially rouwdy friends who get bored easily. I saw it and agree, almost regreting seing it when i could have seen better movies. Sorry to disappoint anyone.
