Ridley Scott's brutal war movie is truly a masterpiece and I would rate it the Scott's best film since Gladiator as well as the best War movie ever made beating Saving Private Ryan sand Apocalypse Now. This compassionate powerful tale depicts War in a way no movie has ever been able to depict. The spectacle of it's the magnificent way the film is made stands out whatever the cost and some brilliant performances from a wide cast including Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor and Eric Bana. The film tells of an inspirational true story telling of soldiers thrown into an unexpected War when two US Black Hawk helicopters are shot down on landing in Mogadishu, Somalia in a US attempt to overthrow the country's corrupt dictator Mohammad Farah Aided in 1993. The film blows us away with wondrous special-effects, terrific action and compelling scenes in the story of a rescue operation that lasted up to 18 hours long. The final scene of the US soldiers running through ruined Mogadishu having finally completed the mission is deeply moving and is made even more so by Hans Zimmer's fabulous original score. A classic War movie that I would name the War movie of the millennium.
