I just wonder how many of the people who are praising this atrocity have actually read the book.

It's been robbed of its originality, charisma and depth and all that's left is a cheesy clichéd story.

Oscar must be turning wildely (no, this is not a spelling mistake) in his grave and if I was the book, I'd sue for defamation.

I totally DISAGREE with the review..... like the last comment I totally loved the film, and at first did not know why! I was left speechless.... sat there in deep thought, I still am! I cannot find the words to describe it- shocking, the decadence was certainly there. Ben Barnes seemed to fit perfectly for the part of Dorian Gray totally consumed in endless pleasures, guilt and...... evil. Watching it you could see him becoming darker and lost in all that was wrong. Near the end I kind of wanted to see him move on and change sucessfully, although watching I knew all things like that must end. I was totally engrossed in the film, almost consumed by it myself! It leaves one feeling strange, like a love hate relationship mixed with fascination? I have never seen a film that has left me sat here.... quite like this! I must buy a copy!

This film was absolutely appalling!! This movie is way too pornographic to have a 15 rating attached to it. Even the rest of the audience experienced discomfort and shock at the excessive amount of gratuitous sexual imagery...this was gaged by the huge intakes of breath during certain scenes, throughout the movie. Please don't waste your time or money on this sort of boring and immoral trash!!

I believe you are living in the repressed victorian times! compared to most other novels of that period the movie was rather too tame in its sexual content! With the camera moving off and away or scene stopping before any actual sexual acts were seen! I take it you are a christian? You say its immoral? What planet are you on and how naive are you?! In those days they did what we see in the movie alot, there were alot of sexual diseases going around then and the opium dens. If you feel it was so immoral why did you bother watching the film? Everyone knows the time and the book. The only thing immoral is your review!

Did you bother watching the filmm properly? To say it is the worse film without any reason! Try reading my review, this film was very fitting of the decadence of that era, and very well acted and done.

I don't think Matthew and I we were watching the same film. The script was a brilliant take on the classic story and the whole presentation works well. A bigger budget would have added to the direction but it's well worth seeing and very enjoyable.
