Am a 23 year old guy, I love horrors with bloody gory scenes but am sorry to say people who ever rates this as postive is wrong this movie goes way to far off the rails its so extreme and sick, Its so shocking and disturbing with a f**ked up ending. They ban films that's not too bad and leave this one unbanned. What a SICK world we all live in come on people how can you give this movie postive ratings.

Disappointing. Considering all the glowing reviews I was expecting something genuinely disturbing. The Chavs in my ( and your ) town and their white-van man/obese parents are 100 times scarier than this collection of Grange Hill extras. The daft plot where a yuppie couple couldn`t find their way out of the local Heath was preposterous to say the least. The gratuitous gore was jarring only in the sense that it was unbelievable and didn`t contribute to the plot. Very Poor

Im sorry to have to say but eden lake is a very tasteless and sick film..I am so shocked that such a film could have even made it on to the cinema...the film critics that allow this kind of film on the market are just as bad as the film makers..

This is a film that must never be let out into the wrong hands or we will see this for real on the 10o'clock news over and over...
They go on about games that kids can go loopy on this film should be band and im surprised its not..

We had to fast forward to the end to see if she at least got out i was so shocked to see the ADULTS are just as bad as their kids..SAY NO MORE!!!!!!!

NOT A FILM TO WATCH AT ALL........................
Oh ours was snapped in half and it found its way into the bin in pieces the best place for it.................

There are much worse films than this that could "warp" kids minds when you look for a Horror/Thriller of this kind this is what you expect if you want vampires or w.e horrors you seem to like then go watch blade. This film had some ups and downs at some points but in the long run it kept me glued to the screen which is what you want from a film. Also you say about it not being let into the wrong hands, have you seen the film Harry Brown ?? .... that film is just as "bad" as this one and has the same plot style about the gangs e.t.c and Harry Brown isnt even a horror film so from a Horror this is what i would expect. It was a good film. To everyone I recommend you watch it before you judge it...

This movie is not a horror, it is reality for many families. It very well shows the problems of many british families where alcohol is present all the times, where the parants really do not give a c**p about there kids. It of course isn't as extreme in all cases but I have never seen so many drunks as I have while living in the UK. In my opinion alcohol is a big problem in the UK and the government is doing very little to sort this out.

This film has inspired both myself and my boyfriend to write our first online review ever. We both enjoy horror films and watch them on a regular basis - one of us works with children and we are both appalled that kids which have access to this film (regardless of the fact that it is an 18, we all know they will get hold of it). Knife crime, gangs and peer pressure are of too great an occurence in our lives today and so much focus has been on educating youngsters to think for themselves, not be led along, We would like to think that most students would watch this film with the same physical sickness and disgust that we both have and that it will deter them from ever even considering to follow a life like the youths in the film. What we are worried about is those youths who will watch this and see it as a glorified victory for those students who are involved in this type of scene, especially with such an ending.

Whilst we understand what the director was trying to achieve through showing a view of modern britain today, we do not feel it is beneficial for society. Yes, when you see a group of teenagers on the side of the road, you will probably feel so scared that you would cross the road - what type of society are we going to end up having. We am sure that most groups of youths would be upset to think that people were scared of them and we have regualrly seen documentaries where the youths state that they are fed up of being stereotyped and pciked upon by others. We do not think this film has helped them at all.

We are taking the DVD back and asking for our money to be returned - we are not happy to have paid to see something so detrimental to society.

I suggest you stick to your day job Mankster and come down from your moral highground which is oh so tiresome. Has it not occured to you that ratings are there for a reason and if children manage to get hold of this film then someone ie an irresponsible adult is to blame for allowing them access to it. This film although extreme is an example of what can and does happen in society and a breath of fresh air from the usual trashy slasher movies that you so obviously approve of.

Well exactly... So this film is doing us a favour then. Not only do we get to watch a horror film but the "kids" that do watch it that think of getting involved with knife crimes or gang crimes will realise that its the wrong path to take when they see what happens to the gang in this film, it might make them stand up to peer pressure instead of giving in to it so i really dont see what your argument against it is..

I think I might stick to my day job - which just happens to be educating youngsters. I quite totally agree that it would be irresponsible of adults to allow younger children to get hold of this film - not even for the content that it airs, more for how the story pans out. Most of the students that I know would be upset that the outcome is that the children get away with it at the end and I would like to think it would deter them from ever entering such lifestyle. However (without tarring everyone with the same brush) it is probably those kids whose parents do not monitor what they are doing/watching who would be quite pleased to see that there is possibility of them doing this sort of thing and getting away with it. I did not say that every kid who ever watched this film would do anything like that, it just may encourage a few individuals to take their 'fantasies' further.
Like another reviewer said, these types of problems are becoming more paramount in the UK at the moment and I do not think it's fair that someone should be making a lot of money out of someone else's misery - despite the fact that a lot of film makers do do this.

That said, I do agree that it was quite unexpected from a British movie as I tend to get bored by them very easily. However, I don't think it does anything for our portrayal of youngster or our future development of them. In response the the 'tacky' slacker movies that I obviously watch: firstly, i thought this page was to review Eden Lake only (so i have not mentioned any other film) and secondly, this is the only post i have ever written so assumptions cannot be made on the other films that i enjoy

I was so unbelievable shocked by this film it was fantastic. I was expecting a bog standard British horror and boy was i wrong!
This film takes u on a journey and a half and i am slightly worried how much further film makers are going to go to be able to upstage this film on shock value. This film is not for the squeamish and you will be scraping your jaw off the floor before you leave. The best directed film i have seen in a long time and makes you feel like you are right there amongst it all and you do end up leaving with the feeling you have just witnessed something very wrong "me and my partner actually had to walk the film off as we both felt quite sick".
I recommended all film lovers to see this film as i think it is a turning point in film history this is a fantastic never been done before horror, it's sick, it's shocking, it's fantastic.

I went to see Eden Lake off the back of some positive reviews about this "great new British thriller". I found it to be motivelessly sadistic and morally vacuous. I cannot remember ever having been angered by a film before, but I found this absolutely repugnant.

I guess this is an example of "torture porn". I'm not particularly squeamish, but I found the onslaught of continuous physical abuse hard to take because not only was it poorly motivated but there was simply no coherent frame for the story- it exists purely as a stage for the infliction of repeated indignities.

The film is not without a small degree of technical merit. Some of the plotting is intelligently thought out (even if ultimately unfulfilling) and there is one moment when the heroine seems to have reached safety, only to have her hopes horribly dashed. This achieves a quite nice degree of suspense. Unfortunately it seems it's the only trick in the scriptwriter's bag, as he then goes on to repeat it not once but twice.

They should have saved the money they spent hiring a helicopter for a day for a couple of saw-thumb aerial shots, and invested in a rewrite to discover if there was any way of injecting some humanity into this vile excuse for a narrative.

One of my favourite British films in years and certainly one of the most effective horror films! Great acting as well.
