Not for the faint-hearted adaptation of Irvine Welsh's classic novel. Go read, by the way, as it is easily one of the best novels published in English in the past 50 years. The movie has a great stab at capturing the spirit of the book - but not quite its moments of utter hilarity. It's not easy viewing. Some of it doesn't quite work. And with winter soon upon us, you may be left finding it a little bleak. It is Scottish, after all...
