I went to see Hellboy II with my sons (24 & 13 yrs) & they both enjoyed it - which is really unusual & I didn't get all the continuous nagging of: 'they shouldn't look or act like that' which they always give me with other comic/book based films. Even I had some laughs and the time went quick - which I think is the mark of a good film. I do agree with some of the comments that not having a pithched battle with the Golden Army was a bit of a let down but it is a film that can be enjoyed by anyone and I wont complain when I have to sit through the DVD around Christmas time!
PS: to anyone with really young children the early scenes with the 'tooth fairy's' eating people are a bit unpleasant - even my 13 yr old sat further back in his seat!

I was looking forward to this film after liking the first one but unfortunately I was really disappointed. While I will give it the fact that the effects were great (costumes, CGI, makeup, the whole lot) the acting was really bad (I had to stifle my laughter at times) and the script... oh the script. The twists at the end are blindingly obvious and some of the lines were just lame. My husband summed it up as 'a chick flick with a big ugly red guy'... enough said I think.
