Insidious is a full-throttle, jump-a-minute horror flick that'll test the strength of your ribcage as your heart thumps harder than it ever has before.

A gentle build up to proceedings with the 'usual' unusual goings on rather falsely leads one to believe that this will be your standard run-of-the-mill haunted house horror movie akin to say paranormal activity.

However the story deviates nicely away from the standard script with the moving of house and the introduction of three slightly oddball 'ghostbuster' characters. Although a little out of kilter with the rest of the film the comic moments provided by these unorthodox spirit slayers comes as a welcome relief from the relentless suspense and scares.

A satisfying although somewhat far-fetched explanation for the strange activity is provided by the head exorcist which within itself is nicely tied up by drawings, photographs and the characters' histories. This leads the film towards a cat-and-mouse ending with a rather superb closing sequence.

In short, if you fancy a huge hit of adrenaline and are willing to sacrifice a couple of nights sleep then Insidious is just the ticket.
