what an amazing movie!
Little did I know when the movie started that I was going to be so spoilt with the scenery, the music, the well crafted story... Sean Penn really is an amazing director and this film gives the audience a total grip on the story, on all the characters and it's brilliantly written...and without sounding cliché. what a thought provoking movie.
SUPERB!!

This is the kind of film which will be ignored by all the fools busily chasing the material things that they are afraid to stop chasing.

But for those whom have ever, even in just a moment, dared to feel that there is something wrong with the entire system of human civilization that they were born into, here is a film of true visual, musical and storytelling beauty that will give you clues about where to go, how to get there, and maybe even how to lead the rest of humanity away from its own insane lust for modern material wealth.

This film is so well crafted and such a tribute to its main character that even if Sean Penn had only put his name on it, and not actually been responsible for its brilliance, then he has at last earned my respect for one thing - letting it happen.

Me and my gf saw this last night mainly because Eastern Promises wasn't showing and my gf liked the poster!

I knew a little about it before hand and was pleasantly surprised to see that Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam had specially composed some songs for the soundtrack.

It's a great film. Well acted and directed, and the wilderness of America has never looked so appealing. Throughout the whole film I kept thinking, 'I want to do that'. You're drawn into the whole story told by his sister, and find yourself sympathising with Alex.

Well made film, thought provoking, and totally captivating. See it.
