This film is, quite simply, close to perfection. Hard to believe that it's Claudel's first feature film as director!

To counter the user reviewer who saw the 'reveal' coming a mile off: This is not meant to be a Hollywood 'film with a twist' (in the worst examples of which you have to sit through 90 minutes of portentous claptrap for the sake of a 'clever' revelation at the end). There is not really a single 'reveal' but an incremental process of understanding via a number of revelations through the course of the film; the real point of these revelations is how they affect our attitude towards Juliette, the way the other characters react to what is revealed, and how those reactions affect her. In the dinner-party scene, for example, we learn nothing new about Juliette's past, but much about the need of others to pass judgement, to laugh things off, or to genuinely understand...

Very keen on seeing this after spotting some posters in the tube. Although overall the film is good the 'reveal' of why she went to jail (I won't spoil it) I could see coming from a mile off! Not good enough really for the rest of the film.
