An incredibly powerful film that really captures the grimness of the 70s, as well as saying something very relevant about the knife crime of today; there is some humour too that adds a bit of light but this is an almost relentlessly gloomy ride. As I went to see this movie in mid-January when, let's be honest, life in the British Isles can be a tad depressing, don't expect to be cheered up by this story of a young man's descent into near madness and despair. Great performances, excellent script, and an ending that has emotional punch and bathos in equal measure - definitely worth watching, but maybe wait until June or July when your serotonin levels are a bit higher.

I would love to be able to write a review on this film unfortunately the nearest screening of this film is in Leeds , approximately 50 miles away , I am Hull born and bred , I love this city, but why do we rarely show British films ,they are far better than hollywood blockbusters , in my opinion !
