After the rave reviews I have to say that I didn't enjoy this movie half as much as I expected. Whilst Hunger was clearly a masterpiece, Shame just didn't have the same impact. Some of it felt like a TV movie and frankly dragged...The last twenty minutes were emotionally powerful but the journey threre felt slightly light and flimsy. The plot is basically enough material for a short film made into a feature. Some of the best moments are what appear to be improvised dialogue as well as the background music which is excellent. Cetainly worth going to see, and great to see a film by a conceptual artist being a big hit, but I was expecting a bit more after Hunger.
