A stunning nail-biting climax makes this remake of the fabulous 2008 French thriller Anything for Her just about watchable, but the rest of the film I have to say is an incredible disappointment. I loved Paul Haggis' previous films Crash and In the Valley of Ellah, but this one is so unbelievably boring I wanted to smash the screen. The plot is completely implausible. Why would anyone want to see a film about a guy who breaks his wife out of a prison? The end product is one of the dullest most ordinary thrillers ever made. The pace is so uneven and while the climax (one part of the film I admit is just spectacular) makes an irresistible action-sequences, the build-up is the biggest load of rubbish you could possibly watch. Just solid talk for all that time as Russell Crowe plans the break-in. We really couldn't care whatsoever. The script is so murky and even Crowe looks ridiculous as a wimpy dad. The Next Three Days could be a good film, but Haggis has made one in need of a serious bailout.
