Well I finally got to see one of my favourite childhood cartoons come to life on the big screen and come to life it did. The amazing CGI effects were some of the best I have ever seen and flowed seamlessly throughout the film (unlike the Matrix sequels).

Unfortunately, this Independence Day movie for the noughties had more cheese in it than a Swiss man's picnic basket and enough flashes of product placement to leave you in an advertising induced fit.

The light humour, testosterone driven action and stunning CGI effects helps it transform from a two star to a three star.

All I can say is wow! I haven't been that enthralled after leaving a cinema since I saw something like Indiana Jones when I was a kid.

The effects are amazing and the amount of time and money that must've gone into this film would probably have made a Shrek and a Star Wars!

The original characterisations remain from the comic and the cartoon which is good as I thought the updated look of the robots would change things. The only criticism would be the Soundwave character's 'Jah Jah binks' like antics. You really should see this film if you ever thought robots were cool as a kid!
