What a shame this movie received a very limited release - it's a British classic. The characters are so likeable they deserve their own TV spin-off. This Is Newham? Will Poulter and Sammy Williams in particular are excellent as Bill's sons, who have been left to fend for themselves in a Newham council-house after their mum runs off to Spain. Just released from prison, the story perhaps follows an inevitable 'father grows to love his sons' storyline, but the journey is so comic and emotionally heart-wrenching that you can't help but fall in love with this movie. The humour is done expertly and works well side by side with scenes that will bring a lump to the throat - if the Chinese meal-scene doesn't have you wiping a nostalgic tear from your eye, you haven't got a heart. There is also a Western-style show-down with the 'baddies' at the end of the movie that will have you on the edge of your seat. 5 stars enjoyment.
