I completely agree with you, I too, have watched Avatar twice now, first in 3D, and again in normal format, and despite the normal version not being as immersive as the 3D one, both times got me more and more addicted to the movie in general (story-line, characters, etc.), it really is a movie to fall in love with, and like the film Titanic, it would be re-watched by many people, many times...
I'll give the 3D version a '10/10', and the non-3D version a '9/10',
I just can't wait until this movie comes out on DVD,
and I hope that they make a 3D version of that too!
Although, nothing can ever beat the cinema 3D experience combined with Avatar;
the loud high quality speakers that shake the floor, and a screen so big you lose your self easily in the movie. Some day I may have an entertainment room of my own to equal it, but until then: I'll buy the DVD when it comes out.
And if Avatar 2 comes out at some point, lets just hope it will be as good, if not better than the first, and 100 times more immersive.
Although... I'll always want to be on Pandora for my self, and be with the natives, a life long wish.

I went with my husband to see Avatar in 3D for the very first time last night. I can really relate to those feelings. The very first time I have seen my other half just sit, thrill with every moment and not notice the time going by, to stay and watch the very last credits.
I have been constantly thinking and talking about it since. What am I going to do when it leaves Stratford PictureHouse? I will have to have another fix, so maybe I can take my granddaughter next time. Yes, tomorrow I want to be back in Pandora with The People. Hold my breath for every run, jump, new experience. Weep for the loss of Home Tree, and soar above.
Hold on, re-live and will meet you all in the line to buy the DVD. (It had better be in 3D, that is the best way to see it.)

Well yes, that's what happened to a lot of us, mainly due to the technology used to make the film, rather than the story lines...it's a sensory experience that makes our lives seem really dull.
If it comes out in 3D DVD I believe we might also need a 3D TV and 3D glasses to get the full effect, so make the most of it while it's on the big screen!

Sorry, but I have to strongly disagree. Avatar is a mostly bad film. Can't understand why anyone would want to pay to see this film more than once. On leaving the cinema i felt cheated. I was promise a revolution in cinema and was given dances with wolves, but with blue aliens. Is the reactions you're having to the 3D and the special effects? If its the first thing you've seen in 3d then I can more understand your reaction, but even the 3d didn't impress me all that much. The 3d effects in A Christmas CArol were far better than in avatar, when it snowed the flakes seemed to come from all aroud you filling the audatorium, truely magical...
Other grumbles are that the soundtrack was lifted, in part, from aliens. every time a battle scene started i was taken out of the moment thinking facehuggers might be about to appear.
My main grumble however is that its even being concidered for best picture! But then the academy likes to give the big earners a pat on the back too. Titanic swept the board eventhough the script made me recoil in embarassment.
PLease don't see this film again. Instead you should go and see "the hurt locker" a film even James Cameron has stated is better than avatar and see what cinema should be a powerful thought provoking experience. Rather than a colourful cliche....

I have to agree that the 3D thing in Avatar also didn't impress me. Alice in Wonderland's 3D trailer got it even more exciting. Anyway, the whole Avatar movie is something that you can always go back to though. It's like I'm going to miss something if I didn't watch Avatar and I certainly loved it, but the 3D.
