This was a disappointing hotel. We stayed for one Saturday night as it was pretty central and, after looking at photos on the Grange hotel website we thought it a bargain for the last minute price of £70. How wrong! The original price is supposed to be around £130 for a double with ensuite, but we didn't even feel it was worth £70.

The location is good and the staff were friendly enough, but the rooms were awful value for money. The decor is old-fashioned and there were cracks on the ceiling. We stayed in room 3 on the bottom floor, which meant our bedroom windows looked out onto the street and were locked shut - a huge problem as the radiator was stuck on high the WHOLE time! We were roasting to death all night and it was definitely an unhealthy place to sleep in.

Thankfully we had a fan in the room we kept on, otherwise it would have been unbearable. It does beg the question of whether they knew all along that the radiator was broken though -having a fan in the room in December... We didn't see any of other rooms while we stayed ther but judging by other reviews most of the rooms must have been equally poor. Our bathroom was freezing cold as the window was cracked so we couldn't have a shower in there.

The tiles were also falling off the walls and the decor was hideous! This seemed to be a general trend throughout the hotel though, as the public toilet was equally decorated. For £70/night I guess you can't expect much in the centre of London, but NO WAY is this a 4* hotel.

A VERY creaky bed, banging at 8am on the Sunday morning, and unbearable heat would make this a budget hotel at the highest rating. Barely slept a wink! Do not pay full price whatever you do! You'll be very disappointed... Holiday Inns or Travel Inns would be 10x standard. On the plus side, the building looks nice and the welcome area looks posh, breakfast was okay but just your simple croissants/toast/cereal, and the staff are smiley enough. Shame a
