Whats On
Connected artists
Latitude aims to bring together artists from all across the world by connecting them through their geographic differences. Since the exhibit evolves over time, it gives the artists an opportunity to respond to each other’s work, thereby changing their own styles. The three cities included are major art hubs, which means that the artists are influenced by their locations in different ways.

A non-movement movement
The art world has a tendency to compartmentalise different styles into specific movements, but with technology changing constantly artists are being exposed to much broader work. The Latitude London art exhibition hopes to leave specifications behind and take a more general look at what influences artists.

Latitude in London
London is the second stop for the traveling show, which was previously seen in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Soap Factory in 2006, in the form of a show called 8x8x8. Its London home is at the Fieldgate Gallery in East London. The show will head to New York City later in 2007, and the New Yorkers will be certain to put their own spin on things.

London artists
The artists featured in the Latitude London art exhibition include Sarah Baker, Diann Bauer, Isha Bøhling, Doug Fishbone, Matt Franks, Neil Hamon, Andy Hsu, Mandy Lee Jandrell, Sharone Lifshitz and Vicky Wright. There’s a menagerie of artists working in loads of different styles, so you’ll be sure to find something that you like the look of.

Latitude London art exhibition takes place from Friday 12th January – Sunday 11th February 2007 at the Fieldgate Gallery, 14 Fieldgate Street, with a private viewing open to the public on Thursday 11th January from 6pm - 9pm. Gallery hours are Friday – Sunday from noon – 6pm. Nearest tube: Whitechapel.
