A selection of outdoor ice rinks will be open for another season of ice skating this year, offering a unique ice skating experience in picturesque surroundings. Canary Wharf Ice RinkCanary Wharf ice rink will be bubbling with festive cheer this winter in the iconic setting of Canary Wharf’s famous towers. The ice rink also features a cafe where you can relax with friends over a drink or two. Canary Wharf will be open from 22nd November 2008 – 22nd February 2009.
Natural History Museum Ice RinkLondoners can go for a skate on a 1,000 metre ice rink in the spectacular setting of the Natural History Museum, or watch the fun from the sanctuary the cafe bar. A trip to the museum will make it a full day out for families in London at one of the city’s most popular attractions. The Natural History Museum ice rink will be operating from 6th November 2008 – 18th January 2009.
Tower of London Ice RinkEnjoy ice skating at one of the most famous landmarks in London, located in the dry moat beneath the Tower of London North Wall. The Tower of London ice rink offers a truly unique outdoor ice skating experience, with plenty of fun to be had for skaters of all ages. The Tower of London ice rink is open from 22nd November 2008 - 11th January 2009.
Kew Gardens Ice RinkLondoners can enjoy outdoor ice skating in one of London’s prettiest locations at Kew Gardens ice rink. Have a magical time on ice in front of Temperate House and make the most of crisp afternoons and evenings this winter. Kew Gardens ice rink will be open from 29th November 2008 - 4th January 2009.
Hampton Court Ice RinkHampton Court ice rink has become a perennial favourite among Londoners during the London ice skating season. Open for a number of weeks during Christmas and New Year the Hampton Court ice rink features a special cafe, letting you soak in the atmosphere at Henry VIII’s historic red brick palace. Hampton Court ice rink is open from 29th November 2008 - 11th January 2009.
Somerset House Ice RinkSomerset House London ice rink is back for another year of open-air ice skating in the Somerset House courtyard. Take advantage of the London ice skating season at one of the most beautiful ice rinks in the country. Evening ice rink sessions are also available for ice skating beneath the stars. Somerset House ice rink will be operating from 19th November 2008 – 25th January 2009.
Ice Disco at O2Last year, the O2 arena played host to a huge ice rink which covererd over 900 square metres and was one of the best spots for some winter skating. This year sees the Ice Disco replaced by a huge set of ski slopes, so if you're a skiier, snowboarder or even a snow-tuber, give the O2 Ski Slopes a go.
Broadgate Ice RinkBroadgate Ice Rink is a small but perfectly formed ice rink right in the heart of the City, and proves a popular choice for all ages. The rink will be open from 15th November 2008 and remain open until late March 2009. For more information, please click below.
Hampstead Heath Ice RinkGrab a skating partner and go for a twirl at Hampstead Heath ice rink, one of London’s most popular open air ice skating venues. Visitors to the rink can expect fun and festivities on and off the ice, with refreshments available when you’re after a break from the action. The Hampstead Heath ice rink is open from 29th November 2008 - 19th January 2009.
Ealing Ice RinkThe ice rink at Ealing remains one of London's favourites but's only open until 4th January 2009 so be quick!
Cardinal Place Ice RinkUnfortunately Cardinal Place will not be hosting an ice rink this year, which is a shame as it was many people's favourite place to skate. Keep your eyes peeled for it next year but in the meantime, take a look at some of the alternatives above.
Greenwich Ice RinkUsually you can wrap up and take a trip to Greenwich ice rink at the Old Royal Naval College for London ice skating in East London but infortunately it won't be taking place in 2008/2009. One of a number of London ice rinks situated in traditional surroundings, the Greenwich outdoor London ice rink established itself as a firm favourite in the London ice skating season so hopefully it will return again next year.
Windsor Ice RinkThe 800 square metre Windsor ice rink will unfortunately not be open at Alexandra Park for the 2008/2009 season. Again, this was a real favourite of many Londoners so hopefully it will make a return next year too.
