On a day the Dark Knight has been hogging the headlines, the caped crusader has been arrested after allegedly committing a crime at a London hotel.

Christian Bale, who as well as Batman played American Psycho's Patrick Bateman, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister at the Dorchester on Park Lane.

A police spokeswoman said: "A 34-year-old man attended a Central London police station this morning and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault."

The film's star is said to have lashed out at his family members before joining the other actors on the red carpet for the new installment in the Batman franchise.

The two women, are said to have reported the Welsh-born actor at a Hampshire police station, according to the Press Association.

Metroplotian Police then received the complaint, with a spokesman for Scotland Yard telling the agency: "We can confirm we have received an allegation from another force in relation to an alleged incident in central London."
