Blades swipe Hornets striker Henderson

Sheffield United have completed the signing of striker Darius Henderson from Watford for a fee of £2 million.

The Yorkshire native, 26, has signed a four-year deal at Bramall Lane after spending three years at Vicarage Road, in which he helped the Hornets into the Premier League.

"I'm delighted to finally get Darius," said Blades manager Kevin Blackwell.

"I've tracked him for a while and he was number one in my mind to replace Rob Hulse.

"Darius knows what the Championship is about, he will fit straight into the Blades ethos."

Henderson has played for a number of clubs throughout the Football League, including Reading, Gillingham, Brighton and Hove Albion and Swindon Town.

But the Doncaster-born striker believes he has made the right move in joining a club in the area where he was brought up.

"I was told a fee was agreed between the clubs and I was more than happy to come and speak to the manager," he revealed.

"This is a great move for me, coming back home. I've met the lads and there is quality in abundance here."

Watford chairman Graham Simpson added: "We all wish Darius well in the future, he's been a great servant to the club.

"His goals were of huge importance to us and I'm sure he will be missed by us all."
