Investment and advisory firms the Blackstone Real Estate Group and PRUPIM have signed up to the Better Building Partnership scheme, it has been announced.
One of the London Development Agency's climate change programmes, the initiative aims to cut carbon pollution and reduce energy costs in London’s commercial property sector.
"Blackstone is committed to giving due regard to environmental and social issues and to encouraging portfolio companies of our private equity and real estate private equity funds to do the same," said the group's managing director Stuart Grant.
"We are delighted to be a member of the BBP and look forward to working with other leading real estate investors and owners in London to promote this vital initiative."
London's commercial buildings are responsible for a third of the capital's carbon emissions.
Mayor Boris Johnson has set a target of cutting CO2 pollution in the capital by 60 per cent by 2025.
