Cook says century on Test debut 'what dreams are made of'

Alastair Cook has admitted that scoring a century on his debut as England Test captain is "what dreams are made of" after posting an unbeaten 158 against Bangladesh.

Cook, who hit 158 not out as his side cruised to an early lead against Bangladesh in their first day of the first Test, became just the fifth player to score a test century as debutant captain.

The 25-year-old was very proud of own and his team's performance but claims it was hard to keep his concentration level during a hot day in Chittagong.

He said: "I'm very proud to bat all day today and obviously the team are in a really good position.

"When you get in on these wickets it is difficult to maintain that tempo you set yourself and not to get to carried away and keep doing it. Its pleasing I managed to do bat throughout the whole day."

Cook has also set his sights on increasing his total further tomorrow, adding: "You got to get yourself in again and then you can hopefully play at the same tempo and go on and get a real big one."
