Eating out in style celebrated by new London festival

Vanity Fair hosted a star-studded red carpet event in the capital last night (October 7th) to mark the launch of the inaugural London Restaurant Festival.

The main schedule of events, which involves over 550 restaurants and chefs in the city, are set to kick off today with Richard Corrigan of Mayfair cooking up a storm at the London Eye this evening.

Founder of the festival Fay Maschler commented: "Restaurants have become a vital part of life, not just for nourishment but for socialising, inspiration, deal-doing and fun.

"London's extraordinary breadth and depth of restaurants and our home grown and imported talent deserves to be recognised and celebrated."

Running until October 14th, the week-long culinary campaign is expected to boost the profile and appreciation of London's restaurant scene, putting it in line with other global cities known for their quality and diverse dining experience.

The festival is backed by Visit London and the mayor Boris Johnson.
