Hong Kong's Marco Fu has qualified for the semi-finals of the Wembley Masters after beating Ding Junhui 6-3.
Fu will now face Stephen Lee for a place in the final after the Englishman comprehensively beat former world champion Peter Ebdon 6-1 in his quarter-final.
Having entered the competition as one of four wildcard picks, Fu has already played one extra round compared to the other three semi-finalists.
Fu fought back from 3-2 behind to win four successive frames and claim a place in the last four as Ding's form deserted him.
The Chinese sensation claimed a 2-1 lead with a break of 87. A break of 54 in the fifth frame, in response to Fu's 97 in the fourth frame, then gave him a 3-2 lead.
He looked set to add to his advantage before he missed a straight forward black in the sixth frame. That mistake allowed Fu in to make a clearance of 62 and haul himself level again.
Breaks of 86 and 51 put Fu within one frame victory, which he sealed in a scrappy ninth frame.
Ding said he felt missing the black in the sixth frame had been the turning point of the match and affected his game in subsequent frames.
"Missing that black in the sixth frame proved costly for me. I felt a lot of pressure because I know Marco's game so well," said the 20-year-old.
"I was nervous all the way throughout the match because of the expectation."
In the day's other quarter-final Lee benefited from a poor performance from Ebdon to claim a place in the last four.
Ebdon consistently made positional errors mid-break allowing Lee plenty of opportunities to make frame-winning contributions.
