Glamorous Queen opens stylish St Pancras

News image
The Queen is to open the rejuvenated St Pancras station today.

Fresh from being selected as one of the world's most glamorous women by Vogue magazine, the Queen will mark the official opening today of what developers hope will be one of the most glamorous stations in the world.

Boasting Europe's longest champagne bar, and reportedly a McDonalds and Burger King-free zone, the concourse is part of what builders have called "Europe's destination station".

Drivers arriving at St Pancras today will meet Her Majesty and Prince Philip at the station which will see the Eurostar arriving deep into central London.

Plans for the station include a daily high quality farmers' market, rows of boutique stores and a Searcy's brasserie.

The famous gothic red brick facade facing the Euston Road is to be opened as a luxurious five-star hotel in 2009.

And, to make sure that the station is always impeccable, four times as many staff as at Network Rail stations will be on rubbish patrol, mopping duty and on anti-bacterial wiping missions.
