Hawks seal place in one-day final

Hampshire are through to the Friends Provident Trophy final after beating Lancashire by 64 runs at Old Trafford.

The Hawks triumphed thanks an opening stand of 186 between Michael Lumb (76) and Jimmy Adams (78).

They were eventually skittled out for 271, with the last five wickets falling for 35 runs.

Glen Chapple, Gary Keedy and Sajid Mahmood all finished with three wickets apiece for the hosts.

But they were let down by the batters, as Lancashire were all out for 207 with VVS Laxman top-scoring with 54.

Laxman failed to get much support with only Mal Loye and Steven Croft passing 50.

Imran Tahir was the pick of the Hawks' bowlers with 3-38, while Dimitri Mascarenhas took 2-35.

And Hampshire will clash with Sussex in the final after the Sharks defeated Gloucestershire by 34 runs at Hove.

Ed Joyce smashed a career best of 146 in ODIs, while South African Murray Goodwin made 60 as the hosts made an imposing 326-7.

The Gloucestershire bowlers got little reward for their efforts with only Jon Lewis (2-58) and Richard Dawson (2-50) finishing with respectable figures.

In reply, Gloucestershire produced a valiant effort with Alex Gidman hitting 116 off 117 balls while opener Hamish Marshall reached 57.

But Sussex held on for victory thanks to four wickets from Michael Yardy, who dismissed James Kirby for a duck in the 47th over to seal their place in the final.

The final will take place at Lord's on July 25th.
