The London Borough of Sutton has been awarded an Art's Council grant of £53,000 to fund a drama project in schools across the district.
In collaboration with theatre company, Box Clever, Sutton Council will deliver interactive performances and workshops in the borough's schools addressing the subject of bullying, as well as other social issues facing young people in London.
Moira Sinclair, executive director of Arts Council England, London said: "We believe that theatre is a powerful medium, which can bring about positive change, inspiring us to think differently about ourselves and our relationship to each other and the world in which we live.
"We are delighted to be investing in this project and hope that it will offer the young people of Sutton the chance to engage with the arts in a way that will have wide ranging benefits for them as individuals, for their schools and their peers."
Last year, The Art's Council's Grants for the arts, funded by the National Lottery, invested almost £57 million in more than 2,800 projects.
