A martial arts expert has been jailed for life after being found guilty of strangling his former partner.
Alan Jermey was found guilty of murdering Kirsty Wilson on Friday and was today ordered to spend a minimum of 16 years in prison.
During his trial at the Old Bailey the court heard how Jermey attacked his former partner after she told him their relationship was over.
The car salesman, with a black belt in kung fu, was "obsessive" about Ms Wilson, the mother of his two children and could not face losing her, the court was told.
He strangled her before setting her body on fire to make it look like she died in a blaze.
The Old Bailey jury were told during the trial that Jermey had ordered a 100,000-volt stun gun to knock out his former partner before killing her.
After pouring petrol over her body, he climbed onto the extension roof of their home with his two children, at which point one of the young girls began crying: "I want mummy."
Jermey claimed his former partner died in a fire and he had been unable to save her due to thick smoke.
