Michael Jackson fans can 'have refund or keep ticket'

Fans who bought tickets for Michael Jackson's comeback shows can receive a full refund or keep their ticket as a souvenir, promoters have announced.

The Billie Jean legend, who died aged 50 last Thursday, had been due to play 50 shows at London's O2 Arena.

Concert promoters AEG Live have since said fans who bought their tickets through "authorised agents" will be able to apply for a full refund, including all ticket service charges.

A statement also said fans have the option to be sent the actual ticket they would have received in lieu of a full refund.

Designed by the late singer himself, the O2 Arena tickets have been printed with a special "lenticular" process, which creates a 3D effect. Images of the tickets can be viewed online at MichaelJacksonLive.com from July 1st and the offer allowing fans to keep their ticket as a memento, rather than receiving a refund, will remain valid until August 14th.

"The world lost a kind soul who just happened to be the greatest entertainer the world has ever known," commented Randy Phillips, president and chief executive of AEG Live in the statement announcing the refund policy.

"Since he loved his fans in life, it is incumbent upon us to treat them with the same reverence and respect after his death."

The announcement comes after four pictures were released of the late singer in rehearsals - and apparent good health - at Los Angeles' Staples Centre two days before his death last Thursday, having suffered a cardiac arrest.
