Barack Obama is set to touch down in London for a set of meetings with political leaders this weekend.

The American presidential candidate commands devotion from dedicated followers on both sides of the Atlantic and is greeted by some as a film star, while others hail him as a fashion icon.

But he will be in the capital on the serious business of politics, and will be meeting Gordon Brown, Tony Blair and David Cameron.

While there will be no joint presentation, some members of the labour party wish Obama would stick around, the way one Plane Stupid protester did at a Downing Street reception.

Dan Glass, member of the campaign group put superglue on his hand as he went to shake hands with the prime minister.

He said he "glued his hand" to Brown's jacket, though Downing Street denied in all seriousness, saying there was "no stickiness of any significance".

A spokesman for the organisation said the stunt was designed to make Brown "stick to his environmental promises".
