Gordon Brown is to give an hour-long interview to Piers Morgan, the former editor of the Daily Mirror and current Britain's Got Talent judge.
The prime minister will appear on Morgan's ITV1 chat show Piers Morgan's Life Stories, with the interview due to be broadcast on February 14th.
Commenting on the news, Morgan said: "I have been trying to secure a Life Stories interview with the prime minister since the series was first devised, because he is an absolutely perfect subject for the show.
"He is one of the most famous people in the country, yet remains a man of mystery to many.
"I have known Gordon Brown for over 15 years - he is a man who has enjoyed great triumph, suffered terrible tragedy, and will soon face the biggest challenge of his career."
Mr Brown has faced questions from Morgan in the past in an interview with the magazine GQ in 2009.
