Pete Sampras has tipped Roger Federer to win at least 18 grand slams in his career.
The American was in the crowd to watch Federer break his record of 14 career grand slams after his grueling five-set win over Andy Roddick in the Wimbledon final.
At 27-years-old, Federer is expected to remain at the top of the sport for a while yet.
And Sampras has backed the Swiss ace to win more grand slams.
"He can win 17, 18 majors if he stays healthy. He's a stud," Sampras told the BBC.
"He's got everything - and he's got the belief. He's a legend and an icon, a credit to the game.
"He's humble which I like, sort of effortless. He plays at that level so easily.
"It was an epic, it really was. Roger is a friend, he's a a great player, a good guy."
Meanwhile, another legend of the sport, Rod Laver, hailed the match as one of the greatest ever finals at SW19.
The Australian, who won 11 career grand slams, said: "They both played some unbelievable tennis. The serving ability of both was incredible.
"Roger's one of those people who comes up with some miraculous forehands and backhands, I think Roddick got a little tired at the end."
