Two men have been jailed for 27 years for stashing £4.35 million worth of heroin in their cars.
Mylton Demetriou and Sean Foster were originally arrested after police saw the men transferring a grey holdall between their cars in Croydon, south London, in October last year.
On stopping the two vehicles, 54 kilos of heroin was discovered inside the boot of Foster's car and both were arrested for supplying class A drugs.
A subsequent search of Foster's home address also led to the discovery of £43,800 in cash stored in a carrier bag.
Demetriou, 31, was found guilty last month of conspiring to supply class A drugs and was sentenced to 15 years in prison at Croydon crown court today.
Foster, 29, pleaded guilty in March and was handed a 12-year jail sentence.
Detective Inspector Paul Johnson, from the Metropolitan police, said: "This was a significant intervention into a large class A drugs deal and these convictions are the result of some great proactive detective work by my team.
"The specialist crime directorate's projects team continue in their efforts to successfully dismantle and disrupt these networks, stemming the flow of these damaging drugs onto the streets of London."
