Retro and disco vibes abound at 50 Dover Street, with a fun crowd, great lighting and funky tunes.

The Venue
Located in the heart of Mayfair opposite the Ritz Hotel on (you guessed it) Dover Street, this club is a short walk from Green Park underground station. Easy to find from the fact that the unoriginal name is the venue’s address, once inside you should expect to be confronted with a tribute to 70’s disco at its most glamorous, with bright blue and pink fluorescent lighting panels, draped seating areas and heavy brightly coloured cushions. With a staircase and dancefloor lit by tiny lights studded into the ground, 50 Dover Street really is discotastic!

The Atmosphere
50 Dover Street packs in a fun-loving crowd of young disco dancers. The punters here are typical of a top Mayfair venue, drawn mostly from the more mature clubbing set they are wealthy, gorgeous and glam, with an up-for-it attitude, keen to while away the night drinking and boogieing.

The door staff are keen to check everyone off the guestlist (run by various promoters around London – be sure to add yourself to one first to guarantee hassle free entry), but are pretty friendly provided you don’t arrive too inebriated to walk in a straight line!

The bar staff are the pride of this venue, and have worked hard since opening to listen to customers and stop to make sure you’re having the night you want.

The Music
The DJs here play a predictable mix of club classics, commercial dance and funky house, with residents Rafael from Paris and Tara from Moscow. There’s nothing cutting edge or unusual, but the crowd still lap it up and hit the dance floor pretty early to make the most of the night.

The Drink
This place competes with its Mayfair neighbours by offering a new, lengthy cocktail list of Mojitos, Cosmopolitans and Martinis, plus House cocktails, priced at around £10. Premium spirits are on offer, such as Grey Goose vodka and Tanqueray gin, and doubles with a mixer come in at £8-10.

The Last Word
50 Dover Street is a disco revival in Mayfair that competes with the best clubs in the capital, but they hold their own with friendly staff and generous cocktails. The music isn’t very original, but that won’t stop you hitting the dancefloor and enjoying a great night!
