The ViewLondon Review
A pub of two halves, the Abercorn Arms is a decent option for small and large groups alike - come rain or shine.
The Venue
A large and imposing pub taking up the corner of Church Road, the Abercorn Arms has a uniquely decorated interior. One half of the pub offers a boudoir-style area, the ‘lounge bar’, with ornate furniture, large decorative lampshades and a luxurious colour scheme with deep purples and reds. The second half is more like a traditional British pub, with a dartboard and pool table. There’s also a large, smart outside seating area that’s perfect for warmer months.
The Atmosphere
The lounge bar is sumptuous and relaxing while the more pub-like area is a little more lively and sport-oriented (there’s a TV screening live sports) – it seems as though most people could find somewhere to be happy here. Staff are friendly and chatty, and eager to make sure you’re having a good time.
The Food
Currently only offering baguettes, wraps and paninis, the Abercorn Arms has plans to offer traditional, honest pub grub such as bangers and mash, pies and so on.
The Drink
The focus here is good beer, with Young’s Special and Wells Bombardier among the options. Pints start from £3.70, with Guinness being the most expensive at £3.90, and bottled beer ranges from just £3.20 to £3.60. There’s a select list of wines, starting from just £12 a bottle.
The Last Word
Whether you prefer to relax in opulent settings with a drink or two, or like to enjoy sports on the TV and a good game of pool, the Abercorn Arms has something for everyone.
