What a disgusting place to go. I went there on Sunday with two friends and my 4 year old daughter for lunch. We were seated by a radiater that looked as if it had not been painted in 20 years (dirty, pealing paint not a nice sight)

The table was wooden and did not have a table cloth, unlike several other tables that did. The chairs were to big to fit between the table. It was a joke.

We ordered the Topside beef roast, what a big mistake!! It took 20 mins for it and it was cold. The beef was a tough as old boots and pretty uneadible, there were 3 small roast potatoes that clearly ready made, soggy veg and a hard yorkshire pudding that had a cake like texture in the middle.

We ate what we could, but being 8 months pregnant, found it very concerning.

Then to top it of, the one toilet that they have had no hot tap and watered down liquid soap which I find totally unacceptable and unhygienic.

As a result of eating such poor food and goodness only knows what bacteria is lerking around we felt it was important to share with the staff member who brought us our bill, her response was "I am not the manager!"

Well thank you the Academy beacause we have all been sick as a result of eating there. You need to sort it out before someone gets really ill.

The Academy is not your traditional English pub. It is a bit of a modern restaurant actually, but we had a Sunday dinner at the Academy and the food was great. Very tender beef and my meal was cooked to perfection. The desert orange cheesecake was fantastic. However, the staff were far from friendly which would put us off eating there again.

They do very good food at The Academy. It is a very friendly place and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfy and kept checking that things were okay. I had a very good evening as did my boyfriend, so we shall definitely be back at The Academy.

If you love Latin music and soul - head down to the Academy on Princedale Road. the Academy is a lively but traditional pub near Holland Park that serves a good range of beers and wines. It has a limited dining menu as well, but the food at the Academy is still quite good.
