The ViewLondon Review
Adam Street is exclusive and private without the attitude that usually goes with such territory. The VenueSet in the vaults below street level in Adam Street, between Covent Garden and Embankment, this is a private members' club with a difference. Quirky and slightly offbeat, they cater to the self-employed, creatives and entrepreneurs; people whose work life and personal life merge into one. The bar is where all the full on chatting and networking takes place, alongside some good old rabble rousing (after all, it used to be an actor’s hangout for the likes of Olivier and Richard Harris). The bar has a vaulted roof with small round shafts of light from outside. Brown leather chairs and comfy sofas create a welcoming, comfortable environment.
The AtmosphereCool, hip and accessible. People smile and seem to be having fun at Adam Street and strangers talk to each other. Bar staff keep up the good vibe with an excellent level of service. It does get loud, especially when the DJ plays on Friday and Saturday nights, but that adds to the spirit of the place.
The FoodA reasonable selection is available from the bar menu and if you are looking for a more substantial meal there is a restaurant next door.
The DrinkThey do a classic martini here, including the club cocktail the Oliver Twist (so named because Charles Dickens derived Fagin’s den of thieves from the slums that occupied Adam Street in his day). They also do the usual culprits of mixed drinks, wines, beers and Champagne.
The Last WordAdam Street is unique. It's private but friendly with a laid-back, easy vibe. Enjoy a classic cocktail and expand your personal network.
