I am amazed they still make bars like Akbar. I found it to be an overpriced bar, that was aiming for hotel bar sophistication, but the staff looked amateurish and the reception was snooty. The Akbar interior was fussy and over-done. It probably looks good in photos, but is pretty tacky in real life.

The staff were overly aggressive too. I left my bike tied to a lampost outside and after leaving Akbar I went down the street for dinner, and then came to retrieve my bike at which point the bouncer told me never to park my bike there again.

A totally conceited and overpriced (bottle of very average house white £20) bar with the added cheek of a ‘service’ charge to purchase drinks from the bar - how on earth else are you going to get your drink in order to avoid this?

On the evening I was there, the music was unrelenting, unidentifiable Eurodance and (according to other people in my party) someone had reserved an area, which wasn’t marked off, but apparently meant that if we wanted a table, we’d have to pay £30.

As another reviewer said, this is Soho, but frankly I’ve been to places with better prices, service, atmosphere and décor in Soho – do yourself a favour and give Akbar a miss!

I thought the AKbar was very chilled and relaxed. The DJ gave a nice ambient feel. And there were pleny of places to chill. The drinks were a bit pricey, but it is expected in Soho. Overall I was impressed and so were my friends!

Akbar is a poor bar. Well laid out and nice to sit and drink in, but cocktails are rubbish and the prices of the drinks are way too expensive for the venue.

Also, on Saturday September 25th, the DJ couldn't mix and his tune selection was awful.

Not recommended, deifnitely not a good place to go. Much more selection round London and Soho than this effort, very poor.

I tend to agree with the previous reviewer on Akbar. The bar itself is OK with a good atmosphere, but the drinks are completely overpriced - over £5 for a bottle of beer! The quality of the cocktails are OK at best.

I can think of better places to spend this sort of money.

I went to Akbar on Tue 9th December. What can I say! Never again! The first thing you notice when you decend into the basement where the bar is, is how small it is. You can't even swing a cat down there. It was a good thing that it wasn't packed!(there were more people in starbucks than in there!)

The decor was nice but thats about it. Drinks are well made but a rip off! I wouldn't have minded the price but the glass was full of ice! It was a good thing that I wasn't paying but I felt sorry for my friend though.

To top it off I was feeling a bit peckish so we ordered some mini lamb kebabs. They arrived (all 4 of them) and that was £6. The staff were very attentive! (they dont leave you alone) do yourself a favour go to Opium or SO.UK instead.
