I booked this venue for my birthday party back in February. I booked the smaller room and paid my deposit. I later went in to check the space and confirm my booking. No problem.
The day before my party the venue rang to double check with me. The guy sounded a bit worried but didn't say why.
When I turned up my room had been double booked. When I pointed out that I had guests travelling from all over the UK I was told it was my problem and my deposit was literally thrown back at me. It turned out nearly every table and room had been double booked.
Hats off to the pub up the road that saved the day!
I would not recommend this bar at all. I went here a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday night. The service is appalling, customers at the bar had to wait on average about 40 mins to get served by rude staff. I have no idea why the place seemed so popular, my friends and I definitely won't be going back.
If your looking for a nice, chilled out atmosphere the Albert & Pearl is the place to be.
Live DJ's on the weekends provide excellent entertainment.
Highly recommended.

Albert and Pearl has changed recently, seems like they have gone back to their old selves but a bit more naughty. girls on the bar free pouring shots of tequila into peoples mouths, music was amazing and was a nice mix of genres, great crowd of good looking people. Im sure i will be going back there again, well done Albert and pearl.
By the way, who is albert and pearl?
I went to this bar about a year ago and was met with badly made cocktails and rude barstaff. My fiance recently dragged me back for a friends birthday and i have to say (somewhat begrudgingly) that i cant wait to go back again.
The cocktails are right on point (I recomend the "corn n oil") the staff well presented and well informed on the drinks they were serving. It was a completely different bar.
It's not very often that she's right!
Further to the previous review, I also booked this venue for a special occasion. Or so I thought. On checking everything was in order a week before, I was told that my booking didn't exist. It didn't exist because the person I had booked with no longer worked there. Tough luck. Thanks a lot, guys. Oh but there is hope, folks. It's under new management and they will be sorting out their systems. Funny, that's exactly what I was told when I booked with the guy who no longer works there. This place is a joke. By the way, this is a zero star review.
a friend booked a room for her 40th party celebrations...having sent out invites weeks in advance, was told on arrival at the venue sorry its been double booked.tough.
nice place.........very poor management.
Book at your own risk.
Unfortunately, whilst the beauty of the pub remains, this place has changed loads.
No food (then take it off the dam menu people) and super surly staff have totally drained the atmosphere. So, we are left with a good looking venue that serves drinks, albeit begrudgingly. Plenty of better boozers within walking distance so the lack of effort is puzzling and a disappointment.
