The ViewLondon Review

The City branch of the classic chain that’s made a name for itself amongst Londoners as a pleasant bar with a relaxed, lively atmosphere anytime of the day.

The Venue
Moments away from St Pauls Cathedral, encased in a sturdy, old-fashioned building is an All Bar One with the same decor as all the others - the usual simple, contemporary feel. Agreeable colours of brown and cream, a long bar with lots of wine bottles lined up to tantalise your taste buds, and plenty of seating for weary workers to unwind and chat, the bar has a basic functionally to it making it inviting to all. Long sleek lights and flashes of green art add a touch of Ikea chic to the bar, but it’s the high ceilings and well spaced tables that give the venue the strength of openness, adding to the easy ambience.

The Atmosphere
Littered with City workers at all hours, plus the occasional wanderer, the atmosphere at All Bar One stays relaxed, becoming a bit more lively in the evenings when the drinks have been flowing and everyone’s feeling happy that another work day is over. But with no unique character of style, the drone of the business chatter can become jarring as you realise you feel like you’ve been here before, (which you probably have, as the chain is all over London.) However, the place never becomes too busy, meaning it’s pretty effortless to enjoy at least one drink before the monotony gets to you.

The Drink
There is a good range of wines such as delicious, fruity new world wines to the deeper, drier European wines. Prices vary from £3-£4 a glass and £11-£20 a bottle, so your wallet doesn’t suffer too badly. A smidgen of originality creeps in as draught wines, wines kept at their ideal temperature, are served to give punters a better experience of wine. An extensive choice of draught and bottled beers, as well as a modern food, globally inspired food menu ensures there’s something for most to enjoy.

The Last Word
It might not be anything special, but this All Bar One echoes the chain’s mantra of giving customers a decent drink in a mellow atmosphere without any of the posh fuss of other London bars.
