Contemporary, not so much these days, but still All Bar One is a must see. Obviously it’s a chain so you have a choice of which one you find but the one on Mackenzie Walk has great service and is a nice environment to just chill out in and have a few reasonably priced drinks.

What can I say about the All Bar One chain that hasn’t been said already? Albeit the usual fare of piped music, generic décor and general lack of character, my gripe was not so much with the All Bar One chain itself but with the staff at this particular outlet.

Being as tall as a lamppost, I’m not exactly inconspicuous so I wouldn’t have expected my presence to go unnoticed for too long. So how does this explain why on quite a few successive occasions, I’ve been made to stand waiting for ages at the bar whilst the bar staff then proceed to serve 2 – 3 customers behind me in the queue? (Should I change my aftershave?)

The final insult was probably on the last occasion when I was forced to witness a male member of staff sweeping up behind the bar and wilfully ignoring all the waiting customers for no apparent reason.

Maybe I should open the self-service department? On the occasions I was eventually attended to, the service seemed pretty minimal with a competition of which member of staff could use the least amount of syllables.

Surely All Bar One - Canary Wharf is in business to make a profit or should it consider becoming a registered charity?

I was in this All Bar One one Friday last May, just when everyone was finishing work. The bar was excellent although expensive, but they let us in wearing Millwall tops so fair play to All Bar One.
