An amazing French restaurant which I would highly recommend. I went with a friend and did the Evening Standard £15 each for two courses and a glass of wine and it was amazing! Gorgeous food, lovely staff and a really nice atmosphere too. I had an incredible starter followed by pork cheek and shitake mushrooms, is was so nice. It is also in a lovely location opposite the quaint Almeida theatre. Give it a try, you can't go wrong.

I love love love Almeida! Great for special occasions. I went for my 16th birthday last week with my family and everyone at the restaurant made it extra special for me. The food is soooo yummy!

Having recently moved to the area the first thing on my list of was to find a good local restaurant. Islington offers a number of eateries but not one restaurant offered me as attentive and personal a service with mouth-watering food as the Almeida!

Upon your arrival you are greeted by a charming young lady with a big smile and warm personality who takes your coat and leads you through to your table. The waiting staff are beautiful, friendly and efficient. After going there only a couple of times, they already know my favourite wine (as recommended by their - very knowledgable - sommelier!) as well as my tastes and preferences!

The tables are nicely spread and no matter where I'm sat I am still surrounded by the same great atmosphere. Also special touches like the cheese and charcuterie trolleys make this a real treat!

Amazing value, service, food and location! I cannot praise this place enough!!

I have dined in many fine restaurants, and I have to say that my experience here ranks top of my list! Right from the moment we stepped into the restaurant we felt pretty special. The receptionist was warm and friendly, and ushered us into a section of the restaurant that was set slight apart (at a lower level) from the rest of the restaurant. The decor was original and understated- some cool and quirky black and white framed photos provided us with a lot of amusement, the lighting was initimate, the atmosphere relaxed and informal, with a slight tinge of decadence. The food was to die for, and the presentation excellent! But the one thing that really topped it all off was the service- our waiter was attentive, friendly and imminently professional. I would highly recommend Almeida- go and you will fall in love with it as I have!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place - the food is amazing!! i've been about 4 times recently and every time they get it right. the roast barbary duck with spring greens is delactable served with daphoinoise potatoes on the side - my favourite. i've also tried the steak tartare, which i never thought i would be a fan of, but Ameida have turned me! it comes with the perfect amount of chopped shallots, parsley and gerkins on the side with an egg yolk in the middle, honestly - i am a true convert! the passionfruit souflee with homemade vanilla icecream in the middle is just amazing - they bring it to the table and dollop in the ice cream in front of you so you can see it sink in and melt. i have taken my friends and family to this restaurant and every single one of them has come back for more! the restaurant staff are efficient, friendly and so smooth you barely even notice them! i genuinely recommend this place, delicious food, great staff and above all affordable!

My wife and I had a fantastic evening to celebrate our anniversary with a bunch of friends recently. Even though it was a very busy Friday night we received friendly and attentive service from a charming brigade of front of house staff and the food was simply devine one or two or our friends said it was the best night out they had in years.
Almeida is a great restaurant full of life and atmosphere, go and enjoy yourself

I would not recommend this restaurant's the waiters & waitresses are pompous the food is blend & the overall atmosphere is chaotic. I booked a table at 21:30 and did not leave until midnight thats how long it took to get 3 courses. On top of that they tried to charge me almost double for my food. I had to correct them.

if you can stay away from this place!!!!

The food is good at Almedia, but the service is awful, and the restaurant is far too busy and noisy. The tables are packed in and there are simply not enough staff to cope even on a Monday night.

As a result Almeida staff were doing their best, but having to rush around forgetting things, and one member of our party had a whole glass of wine spilt on them. At the end of the evening, the bill came with the usual optional service added.

Almeida has terrible food. Burnt toast with the pate, mussels with sauce that tasted like supernoodles, dry meat, and very fishy smelling fish and all this cost £130 for two! I would not recommend Alemdia at all.

Almeida's not cheap but the service and food were very good. We went as a birthday celebration and were not disappointed. The menu is inspiring (although requires some knowledge of French) and the wine list offers a great selection. Can recommend Almeida for important occasions although the interior is too traditional and basic for my liking.

I have only dined at Almeida once and can therefore only share one experience. It was dreadful, overpriced with vegetables at ridiculous rates i.e. approximately six chips at over £2.

My main complaint however is that the event was meant to be a family celebration and turned into a nightmare; my son contracted severe poisoning from oysters. His vomiting was prolonged and at one stage we were debating whether to call an ambulance.

Our weekend was ruined; I have contacted the Almeida and they are still prevaricating over refunding the cost of the bill. My complaint was dealt with insolently - the manager invited me to post a message on the internet which I am now doing. At no time have we been offered an apology.

A message to Sir Terence - the Almeida is no feather in your cap, enforce more stringent hygeine in your kitchens and perhaps try dining there yourself!

Almeida is the first Terence Conran restaurant I’ve been to, but it was worth every penny. I’ve got to say I gave the frog’s legs a miss, but my steak au poivre melted in the mouth. The staff were lovely, and everything was presented beautifully.
I’d recommend Almeida to anyone.

The Almeida is a great place to eat before heading to their theatre which has great small productions. I had a fantastic meal and the service was excellent. The Almeida has friendly staff and reasonable prices so I'd love to go again. A nice change from some of Islington's chain bars.

Almeida; well, you can say what you like about Conran but he certainly knows how to put a restaurant together! I've only visited once but I shall be returning at the earliest opportunity - great stuff!
