The ViewLondon Review
If you can stomach the Central London prices, Alphabet Bar is a great place to chill and will please almost everyone. The VenueOwned by a chain that runs several other trendy bars, Alphabet Bar is based in Soho, just around the corner from bustling Carnaby Street, and is easily located from both Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Piccadilly Circus tube stations.
Don’t be fooled by the pretty standard, characterless street-level dining area. This place has an individual touch, and if you head downstairs you’ll find artwork for sale, dimmed lighting, and groups of twentysomethings relaxed and chatting.
The AtmosphereVarious DJs play eclectic sets almost every night of the week at Alphabet Bar and the clientele includes shoppers, those on after work binges, and people supporting friends who have artwork on display. This random mix of people makes the atmosphere very relaxed. Expect to see people dressed up to go on to somewhere else for a night out sitting alongside those with bags of shopping. If you want to visit this bar at its best, however, avoid Friday nights – it can get really packed.
The DrinkLike most drinking venues in the area, Alphabet Bar isn’t cheap. Expect to pay around £6.50 for a cocktail with an impressive menu and staff willing to cater to your personal tastes and freestyle. Wine is sold by both the glass and bottle, and the list is pretty extensive. There’s a large selection of red, white, rose and Champagne. Prices start from £4.50 for a glass and £13.50 for a bottle.
The FoodAlphabet Bar serves a lunch menu from 12pm-4pm and bar snacks are served until 9pm. Lunch includes a selection of salads, pies, burgers and hot sandwiches, which are averagely priced for the area. Bar snacks range from £3 and include dipping foods, breads and olives.
The Last WordCentral and expensive but really relaxed, Alphabet Bar is worth a visit.
