I live very closeby to the Alwyne and so have been there many times over the years but i never go there anymore because i'd rather go somewhere where you actually have a chance of being served. The service is so slow!!!! The staff seem to have a strange sense of priorities. For instance, i have often found myself waiting to be served whilst the bar tender is drying some glasses (very , very slowly). I once stood at the bar for ten minutes and there wasn't a bar tender in sight so I walked out.Sometimes the staff ignore you completely, just keep walking past you like you're not there to go clear a table. Also went in there once for a roast, waitied for 45 minutes and then was told they didn't have any more roasts even though I'd paid for it, they had took my order for it and had made me wait. they are so useless it is unbelievable! been burned too many times, won't go back. The paintings on the wall are hideous too!

I love Alwyne Castle, the food is great. I have only eaten here twice and both times it has been great food, and reasonably priced. The goats cheese dipping pot is fabulous to share wtih friends.

The bar service is a little on the relaxed side though, but I have never been there at a really busy time, so it has never been too much of a problem. Highly recommend Alwyne Castle for a lazy Saturday/Sunday drink.

Please don't ever eat at The Alwyne Castle. The service is unbelievably slow - we waited an hour-and-a-half for potato wedges and the food was certainly not worth it. It's probably not the fault of the waiters. I think the place is just hideously under-staffed. This also means it takes an eternity to get served.

The Alwyne Castle is reasonably nice, and the beer garden is a pleasant enough area to enjoy a drink on a sunny evening. But if you do ever come here, remember to eat before you arrive, or do the sensible thing and go to the excellent Thai restaurant.

I absolutely love the Alwyne Castle. It's a chilled and good fun place to go to at any time - Sunday afternoon, Friday night, Monday morning! It's round the corner from our house and we can just roll in whenever we want to and have a pint and a banter on one of the squashy sofas.

Some of the female bar staff are a bit sulky but it's made up for by the young barman. Creatively named Mr Fit by me and my flatmate, he's enough to brighten up anyone's day!

The Alwyne Castle used to be a bit dingy but it's been refitted in the last year or so and it is a big improvement!
Definitely worth a visit or five, I think!

The Alwyne Castle has recently been given a much needed overhaul. There is London Pride on draught and the staff are very friendly. Alwyne Castle always had a good atmosphere, it's just glad to see the decor has followed suit.
