Anam is very chic and impressively well-designed. A fish tank and a window separating the mens and womens also adds something to the normally dull experience of visiting the toilets. Great happy hour cocktails and friendly staff and manager complete the well-rounded package that is Anam. Well worthy of its cool name too!Anam.

Good cocktails, friendly staff. Prices about normal for cocktails but try to get there during happy hour and you can get a great drink for half the price. The first floor is very narrow and a few people can make the bar seem busy very quickly. You can reserve seating if required and useful if there is a few of you going.

Decent cocktail bar with interesting choices for drinks (with hilariously psychotic names). Dr Strangelove is a nice spirit cocktail and Rock Candy is an interesting fruity one. Ambience was decent, isn't that crowded, staff were curt and to-the-point. Overall, okay.

I recently heard Anam was now opening earlier and with a few friends I went to try out their new lunch menu. I'd heard alot about Pavana's authentic Thai food from a friend of mine who'd been a fan of her's long before she joined Anam Bar and rightly so.

I have to say, not one of the group I took was disappointed. The service was faultless and friendly. The food was out of this world and every meal was under £4. A ridiculous price for such a beautiful meal in such funky, chic surroundings. This is the first place I've visited in London that has driven me to actually write out an online review. I can't stop recommending Anam.

Went out for my friend's birthday last weekend, booked a seating area in Anam bar. Thought we'd try out their new Thai menu and it was fantastic. My friends live locally and are regulars but for me it was my first time. The cocktails are delicious and the bar staff were very friendly. Really enjoyed the music and danced the night away. Superb night, I'll definitely be visiting again soon.

Anam is a great place and along with Clockwork, the Castle and Salmon and Compass it makes you wonder why anybody would bother coming out of Angel and not head toward the market rather than tawdry Upper St. The barman when I visited Anam was very cool and took the time to show a friend how to make the cocktail she had ordered.

Anam is brilliant! Well, it was the other night - we had an absolute blast and everyone at the venue helped that; from the staff to the other clubbers. If this is the weekly crowd at Anam, I'm definitely gonna be back soon.

I'd like to respond to Pauly's remarks regarding Anam. I do think you are unfair in saying this when Anam had one of London's finest DJs playing that night. Timo Garcia is no doubt the best up and coming artist so maybe you don't like house music but mate you must be hearing things with those comments.

It's my understanding Anam has changed hands to two more suitable people who love people and entertainment. About time in my book, the last guys where so stuck up. We here in angel are glad to have this bar back in good hands.

I was in Islington for the first time in months and I went back to see what Anam was up to. I heard a lot of about changes taking place. Funny I picked Saturday night because a new night called Italian Job had just kicked off at Anam.

I was going to Fabric but it was so fantastic we (15 of us) stayed all night and danced like crazy kats. I am a musican and I can honestly say that the way the DJ put his style and energy across was simply out of this world, I made my view clear to the new owners who are very nice guys so hopefully they will build on this, I will be down this Saturday before I go out again.

Haven't been to Anam for few months and because I remembered having a great night out there, i thought i'd visit with few friends couple of saturdays ago. The management had changed, cocktail menu had been changed and DJs were changed as well.
Cocktail menu was reduced half what it was and the guys (we were told they were the new owners) weren't very hospitable, couldn't make the drinks and i felt like i was paying some amature £8 to make a tasteless cocktail. Plus one of the owners were walking around like a zombie, making other people nervous with his pointless stares. Why wasn't he doing his job properly?

Music was way inappropriate, too hard too early and there was no atmosphere in the place. The music just didn't suit Anam at all. Felt like they were playing tunes to satisfy their own hunger for massive club setting. DJs were not very friendly, couldn't mix two tunes to save their lives and my good memory of this place was ruined.

Take it from me fellow readers, Anam isn't what it use to be, they've tried to redesign a fine working wheel in motion and in the process, they've killed this place. Not even worth one star, don't waste your time and money. Aviod Anam At All Cost!

Went to Anam for the first time last Saturday night. I must say what a little gem this place is. Little being the word, the place is small but very cosy. Cocktails were a bit pricey but they were made with care. The deco was very nice (you won't find this in Angel) and the music was just amazing. Two DJs going back to back all night, they played everything from house, funk, soul, rap, Lionel Ritchie as well. They were mixing it up big time.

We went in to Anam for one drink and left at closing time. They were taking requests and being really nice about it too. One of them even gave me a CD to take home. Anam made our night and we are definitely going back for some more.

My friend had her birthday at Anam last Saturday and it was one of the best nights we've all had, together, in a bar, in London.

There were about 30 of us, we had booked an area downstairs and there was no problem getting all of us in comfortably. The bar staff were very welcoming and the drinks so damn tasty! I managed to spend £120 but it was worth it. The music was top notch, the DJs were playing a real mix of styles that worked really well, from Disco to Funk to House. Anam is definitely recommended.

Anam is a fantastic little place tucked away in the shadow of neighbouring Elbow Rooms. Great cocktails. Try the Saigon Mistress with Gin and cucumber. And interesting spirit selection too.

Anam can get a little packed at weekends. Check it out midweek and chat to the guys behind the bar for a memaroble yet slightly blurred evening.

Went to Anam last Friday night and had a great night. The music downstairs was the best I'd heard in london for ages and the cocktail list is pure class. Very inventive.

Anam is a real gem nestled up in the corner of Chapel Market. If you haven't been - go!

Under new owners, Anam is still one of the best in Islington. Went last friday and was blown away by the music downstairs. Like London should be. Anam has a fantastic cocktail list. If you haven't been down, go now! Great crowd, great music, great bar!

We went down Anam last Thursday at about 11pm when everywhere else nearby was packed to the rafters to find it relatively quiet. A nice place with funky decor and music, but a bit small for my liking, must have a capacity of under 200. Better cocktails than anywhere else nearby. Open till late too, which is always nice.
All in all, Anam's not bad, but could be much better.

I was walking down chapel market last Monday week and came accross Anam...Holy Shit!! Where did this funky place come from. I popped in for a few cocktails and in the basement playing live was Ireland's finest singer song writer, Paddy Casey. Highly recommend this little gem! Definitely going back.

"Modern Irish" doesn't mean theme-pub, which is probably why some English customers seem surprised by Anam. The fact is, Anam is owned, built and run by a Dubliner, the whiskies and waters are Irish, as (in a subtle way) is much of the artwork on the walls. If you want Didelly-Di music and a sticky carpet, head to Waxy's. Anam is something more sophisticated, and it's no less Irish for it.

Have heard so much about this place being a Modern Irish Bar...but there is nothing remotely Irish about it!! I pity any woman who stands on the metre square glass floor, guys on the floor below get an eyeful, while the downstairs looks no different to the club bars in the West End...BAD

Had my birthday party in Anam. Reserved the whole downstairs bar. My friends absolutely loved it. The place is very cosy and the design is wonderful. Went back midweek after work a few weeks later and enjoyed a few quiet beers. Nice to get away from Upper Street for a change.

Have been to Anam a few times. Cocktails are great however Aman most definitely has a pseudo-sophisticated vibe. Waiting 20 minutes for drink while rows of teenagers are served pints makes for a frustrating experience. What a pity. Still so Chapel Market Islington Wannabee - needs to get some real class...

Having visited Anam a couple of times now I can safely say that it's well worth it for the music alone! Aside from that the bar is good-looking, well-stocked and great for an all round good time. Highly recommended!
